Donavon Frankenreiter is an American musician and surfer who was born on December 10, 1972, in Downey, California. At the age of 18, Frankenreiter joined the band Peanut Butter and Jam. When he established the band Sunchild in 1996, he began to really pursue a musical career. Frankenreiter played lead guitar in Sunchild but did not sing.
The band's sound was comparable to The Black Crowes' in the 1970s. Surfdog Records published their debut album, "Barefoot & Live," in 1997. The live CD, which was produced by Gary Hoey, included covers of The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Rolling Stones, and Van Morrison, as well as a few originals.
