Lt. Gen. David A. Deptula is the first Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance at the US Air Force Headquarters in Washington, D.C. For policy development, planning, assessment, oversight, and leadership of Air Force intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities, he reports to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
He reports directly to the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence as the Air Force's Senior Official of the Intelligence Community. General Deptula graduated with honors from the University of Virginia's ROTC program in 1974 and went on to earn a master's degree in 1976.
