Christiane Amanpour is a British-Iranian journalist and one of the world’s most respected international correspondents. She serves as CNN’s Chief International Anchor, hosting the nightly program “Amanpour on CNN International” and “The Amanpour Hour”. She also anchors “Amanpour & Company” on PBS. Born in London to an Iranian father and British mother, she spent part of her childhood in Tehran before returning to England for schooling. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island in 1983. Amanpour joined CNN that same year as an entry-level assistant and rose to become its leading foreign correspondent. She gained global acclaim for her fearless on-the-ground reporting from conflict zones, including the Gulf War, Bosnia, Rwanda, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Her coverage has defined modern war journalism.
