Charlie Sennott

He is now a Special Projects reporter based in Boston assigned to covering terrorism and religious extremism. He has recently returned from a reporting trip to Pakistan and Afghanistan where he documented the rise of the Taliban and the failed hunt for Osama bin Laden. Last year, Sennott was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University where he furthered his studies - and taught a course - in religious fundamentalism and the way it has shaped the news from Washington to the West Bank.

Sennott has been a frequent analyst on terrorism and religious extremism for the BBC, NPR and CNN among other news organizations. Sennott was among the first reporters into both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and has traveled and reported on the region extensively. He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Livingston Award for National Reporting and the Foreign Press Association Story of the Year. He is the author of three books, including The Body and The Blood: A Reporter's Journey through the Holy Land. Sennott has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Providence College for his reporting on faith amid conflict. He has delivered addresses to Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and Dartmouth College's Rockefeller Center. He lives in Harvard, Massachusetts with his wife and four sons.
