Carliss Y. Baldwin is the Harvard Business School's William L. White Professor of Business Administration. She is interested in the design process and how it affects company strategy and the structure of business ecosystems. She co-authored Design Rules, Volume 1: The Power of Modularity, the first of two planned volumes, with Kim Clark.
Volume 2: Modularity on Trial will look at how modular technologies are altering the global economy's core structure, both positively and negatively. Baldwin graduated from MIT with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1972 and went on to Harvard Business School for his MBA and DBA.
