Candy Shaw, dubbed "The Balay Lama®," grew up in the beauty industry as the daughter of Jamison Shaw, a former world champion competition hairdresser, and Sara Shaw, a professional make-up artist. Candy has spent her whole adult life as a hairdresser and instructor, having over 35 years of expertise. Candy is the owner of Jamison Shaw Hairdressers®, a 50-chair, a 5,000-square-foot salon in Atlanta, Georgia. Candy continues to labor ‘behind the chair,' seeing up to 35 guests each day with the help of four to six helpers. Candy is considered the top expert on balayage education in the world. More than two decades ago, she created The Academy at Jamison Shaw, an elite training center that teaches French Cutting and Balayage Highlighting. Candy created Sunlights Balayage, a professional product brand that makes and sells the world's best balayage goods and instruction, in 2014. THE BALAY BOX®, a ‘complete balayage class in a box' including everything a stylist needs to become a balayage expert, and SUNLIGHTS® Professionnel Balayage Lightener, a proprietary, state-of-the-art, kaolin (clay) based lightener particularly designed for balayage. Candy is the New Member Chair on the Board of Directors of Intercoiffure America-Canada, the world's most distinguished international salon association. Candy has previously received Intercoiffure's "Award of Excellence" and Intercoiffure Mondial's "Personality of the Year." Candy is known as "One of the World's Most Published Stylists" due to the fact that she has hundreds of photos published each year. She's styled hair at the Grammys, American Country Music Awards, Cannes Film Festival, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and a Playboy Mansion bash. She has been dubbed one of the "most prominent and influential women in the professional beauty business" by American Salon, and she has been dubbed "really "the face of our industry" by Modern Salon, who sees her as "highlighting all that is wonderful about the salon community." Her nickname is "the blonde whisperer," according to a Canadian hairdresser. Carrie Underwood (Candy handled the hair for Carrie's 2010 wedding, which was featured in People magazine), Miranda Lambert, Karina Smirnoff, Todd Chrisley of Chrisley Knows Best, Playmate of the Year Tiffany Fallon, Annika Sorenstam, and The Rascal Flatts are among Candy's notable clients. The Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders use Candy's salon as their official salon. Candy was recently honored with the ‘Start-Up of the Year,' ‘Maverick of the Year,' ‘Female Entrepreneur of the Year,' ‘Woman of the Year-Women Helping Women,' Atlanta's ‘Small Business Person of the Year,' and the ‘Jerry Gordon Salon Business Leadership Award.' Intercoiffure also honored her North America's "Educator of the Year." Candy is married to Fred Codner, Esq., and they have three children: Jamison, 28, who is the COO of one of Candy's businesses, Jesse, 26, and Jenna, 17.
