Bomba Estereo Biography

Bomba Estéreo was formed in 2005 as a project by visual artist/musician Simón Mejía who started to form a collective of different DJ’s and visual artists including some of the most recognized young artists in the country. In 2006 Bomba Estéreo released their first album under the name of “Vol.1” in which Simón included a featuring with Li Saumet a female MC who sang over one of the tracks. This collaboration gave birth to a new musical relationship between Li and Simón.
After “Vol. 1” Bomba Estéreo flew to the States to perform in LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference) where they met Tomás Cookman chairman of Nacional Records and closed a digital distribution deal. Upon returning to Bogotá Felipe Álvarez from Polen Records met the band and began releasing Bomba Estéreo in Colombia.
The stage was set for the release of Bomba Estéreo’s second album “Estalla” (“Blow Up” in the US) released in Colombia in September 2008 and presented live with the new full band with Kike Egúrrola on drums Julián Salazar on guitar Li as the lead singer and Simón on bass programming and band direction.
