Ana Navarro is a Nicaraguan-American political strategist, commentator, and television personality. Born in Nicaragua, she fled with her family to the U.S. in 1980 amid the Sandinista revolution, settling in Miami. A University of Miami graduate with a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University, she built a career in Republican politics.
Navarro served on Jeb Bush's transition team as his director of immigration policy and as U.S. ambassador to the UN Human Rights Commission, where he condemned Cuban abuses. She was the national Hispanic co-chair for John McCain's (2008) and Jon Huntsman's (2012) campaigns. A vocal Trump critic, she remains a registered Republican but has supported Democrats at times.
