Alison Bechdel, author of the critically acclaimed Fun Home and the syndicated comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For (DTWOF), has become a cultural icon for lesbians and discriminating non-lesbians all over the world. Bechdel's DTWOF is syndicated in over 50 alternative newspapers and periodicals, translated into several languages, and compiled into a book series with over 250,000 copies in print, as Ms. magazine called it "one of the finest oeuvres in the comic genre, period." She has received Lambda Awards for comedy in four of her works, including The Indelible.
