Zeb Hogan graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. Zeb then traveled to Thailand to study environmental risk at Chaing Mai University. Zeb then returned to the United States to get his Ph.D. in ecology at the University of California. Zeb Hogan's role in the television series "Monsterfish" is maybe what makes him most well-known. But because of what he has done for all the large freshwater fish, he is also a man who is highly respected. For instance, in Cambodia, Zeb would purchase seafood from fishermen who catch a threatened species (if the fish is alive of course). He examines them, tags them (using a satellite), and releases them downstream, far from the nets of the fisherman. Zeb can see when the fish are traveling to a new location using the satellite. Zeb and other biologists may learn more about behavior in this way. Over 3000 river catfish have been marked by Zeb Hogan and his colleagues. Since 1996, Zeb has focused their attention on the lower Mekong river basin. Zeb has been researching huge fish, including the enormous Mekong catfish.
