Yandy Smith Biography

Born in Harlem, Yandy Smith is an entrepreneur and entertainment manager popularly known for being a cast on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop. She interned at Violator under the mentorship of Mona Scott-Young after graduating from Howard University in 2004. On a private jet charted by Russell Simmons, Yandy met Jim Jones and left Violator to manage him full-time in 2005. Jim approached VH1 executives in 2006 to create a reality show about him, which led to the filming of “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” an 11 minutes presentation tape produced by Toby Barraud of Eastern TV and Stefan Springman. Yandy approached Mona to reshoot the show after VH1 communicated their concerns on the uncertainty of the audience investing in the idea of the show full time. Jim's girlfriend Chrissy and her circle of friends were included in a bid to tweak the concept of the show and as a result, Love & Hip Hop was birthed.
