Li Xiaolin has served as the organization's president since 2010 when the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) was founded. She began working for the CPAFFC in 1975, rising through the ranks to become director general of the department of American and Oceanian Affairs and leader of the division of US Affairs.
She was chosen to serve as CPAFFC's vice president in 1996. She served as the first secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the United States from 1990 until 1992.
