William Evanina served as the Director of the United States National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) from 2014 until his resignation in January 2021, becoming the first Senate-confirmed director of the NCSC in 2020. In this position, he led U.S. government-wide counterintelligence efforts, overseeing protection against espionage, insider threats, and foreign intelligence operations.

Prior to NCSC, Evanina held senior roles, including Chief of the CIA’s Counterespionage Group and Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the FBI’s Washington Field Office, where he managed counterintelligence and counterterrorism operations during his 24 years as an FBI special agent.
