After viewing a portrait of two enslaved young men her age and learning that bondage didn't stop with Abraham Lincoln, 8-year-old Vivienne Harr stated: "Compassion isn't empathy without activity." We must take action. So, as children have done since the dawn of time, she chose the one business expertise I had: a lemonade stand.
In any event, Vivienne had a profound vision. She had to raise $100,000. She stuck to her lemonade stand for 365 days in a row to eliminate child enslavement. The world was still with her. On day 52, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times editorialist Nicholas Kristof retweeted Vivienne, and her second became a trend.
