The highly successful annual Opus Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Large Law Firms is sponsored by Vern, who is in high demand as a speaker at conferences all over the world. Vern also frequently serves as the keynote speaker at the bar and legal association meetings, law firm partner and leadership retreats, women's conferences, and affinity group forums.

"Moving Diversity Forward: How To Go From Well-Meaning To Well-Doing," written by Vern and published by the American Bar Association in 2011, is a bestseller. What If I Say the Wrong Thing?, a second book released by the ABA, addresses this issue. The best-selling book "25 Habits For Culturally Effective People" was published in August 2013.

Vern had the honor of becoming a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management in 2014. She presently serves on the board of the Work-Life Law program at the UC Hastings College of Law. Ms. Myers received the Pepper Hamilton LLP's Diversity Champion Award in 2010.

She was selected in 2008 as one of The Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly's "Diversity Heroes" and in 2009 as one of The Network Journal's "25 Influential Black Women in Business." Vern served as the inaugural Executive Director of The Boston Law Firm Group, a group of companies dedicated to boosting racial and cultural diversity, before founding VMCG.

During her tenure as Massachusetts' deputy chief of staff (1997–1999), she implemented a comprehensive diversity and inclusion effort, expanding minority hiring, providing sexual harassment and diversity training, and doing outreach to the state's varied community.

Vern spent six years working at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP and Fitch, Wiley, Richlin & Tourse, LLP in Boston where he handled corporate and real estate law. Vern earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Barnard College, Columbia University, and went on to get a law degree from Harvard.
