Tom has leadership roles in several commercial and public policy organizations and has more than 35 years of experience with Southern Company. He also chairs the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and maintains a number of other executive posts. Tom is a recognized expert on a variety of subjects, including cybersecurity, economic development, and energy innovation.

Tom has led the industry in growing the whole spectrum of our energy resources because his passion for creating better communities drives his vision. The Southern Company system is the only U.S. energy provider investing in nuclear, 21st-century coal, natural gas, renewables, and energy efficiency.

It is leading the nation's nuclear initiative with two cutting-edge units in Georgia, building an innovative coal gasification facility in Mississippi, and adding more than 4,000 megawatts of renewable energy since 2012.
