Alison Mosshart (VV), an American vocalist, and Jamie Hince, a British guitarist, founded the indie rock group The Kills (Hotel). Keep On Your Mean Side, No Wow, and Midnight Boom, two of their first three albums, has received high ratings from critics. Their fourth and most current studio album, Blood Pressures, was released on April 4, 2011, in all countries and in the US on April 5, 2011. Discount, a Florida-based punk rock band, was Mosshart's prior band, and Fiji Scarfo and Blyth Power were Hince's former bands. Before their meeting, Mosshart overheard Hince performing music in an upper-floor apartment while Mosshart and Discount were touring Europe. When they ultimately met, they got to work on some musical concepts. Under the influence of Lauren Antonina Herbert, Mosshart kept creating music with Jamie by sending her ideas to London, where he lived after she returned to Florida. Mosshart finally relocated to London after putting money down. The partnership got underway. They debuted as VV and Hotel in a club in London's SoHo district. Mosshart and Hince changed their names to VV and Hotel to distance themselves from their pasts. Hince claimed that he and Mosshart gave each other ridiculously romantic pop art scene odes while they were inebriated. Mosshart and Hince later chose The Kills after each had written out many potential band names on typewriters.
