Taylor Schilling, who grew up as a devoted fan of the NBC medical drama ER, began acting at a young age. When she appeared in a stage production of Fiddler on the Roof, she gained momentum in the venue program at her middle school.

She transferred to Fordham University's New York City campus at Lincoln Center after leaving Wayland High School in 2002, where she continued participating in theatre productions before earning a related Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006.
