Tatyana Ali, a Harvard alumna who gained international fame for her portrayal of "Ashley Banks" on the venerable television program The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, is a Broadway-trained actress, singer, producer, and activist. She started acting at six and became a regular child performer on Sesame Street in 1985. Herbie Hancock even joined her in a musical routine.
She also had two appearances on Star Search. She had her big break when she was chosen to play Ashley Banks in the 1990 television comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
