Tanya Denise Tucker, a vocalist, was born on October 10, 1958, in Seminole, Texas. She spent her early years in the Southwest, where the family frequently moved due to her father Beau's need to preserve sources of money (doing everything from selling garbage iron to center dull, Tucker would later say in a People meet).
Tucker began playing the saxophone at age 6. In the end, she admitted that speaking came more naturally to her, and she and her family relocated to Las Vegas so that she could look for job opportunities in implementation. Her manager was her former love. When Tucker signed with Columbia Records, she released her debut album Delta Dawn in 1972.
