As an Army brat who was raised all around the world, Sunny's parents always pushed her to eat the local food. She maintained her quest for news stories while savoring gastronomic discoveries when she enlisted in the Air Force as a radio announcer and journalist.

She continued her travels as a radio DJ in other locations after leaving the Air Force and achieved her dream job in New York at a No. 1 ranked radio station. There, she started preparing meals for her friends who worked in the entertainment industry. She then converted her pastime into a catering business and grew her clientele.

In 2005, she had a guest appearance on Food Network's Emeril Live! as a result of that, and soon after she shut down her catering company and radio job to concentrate on pursuing yet another dream: sharing her recipes with the Food Network audience.

Cooking for Real, How'd That Get On My Plate, and Home Made in America with Sunny Anderson were her next three shows to air, all of which included culinary gadgets. Her first show, Gotta Get It, debuted in 2007. Her cooking approach mixes traditional comfort dishes with distinctive tastes drawn from her extensive travels.

Sunny provides genuine cuisine for real living with an awareness of daily life and the conviction that real people deserve straightforward, tasty meals. She published Sunny's Kitchen: Easy Food for Real Life, her New York Times best-selling debut cookbook, in September 2013. (Clarkson Potter).
