Suheir Hammad is the author of broken sonnets and the recipient of the 2009 Arab American Book Grant for Poetry as well as an American Book Award. Her novels include Born Palestinian Born Black, Drops of This Story, and ZaatarDiva. Her work has been widely adapted for the theatre and anthologized.
Blood Trinity and broken letter(s) are two of the pieces she has performed, and she also wrote the lyrics for the mixed-media piece Re-Orientalism. An original writer and performer of the Tony-winning Russell Simmons Present Def Poetry Jam on Broadway Suheir's play appeared in Salt of This Sea, an official selection of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
