Steve Swanson (Ph.D.) is a former NASA astronaut and designer. He flew two space transfer missions as well as one space station expedition. Swanson got a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado before going on to get a Master of Applied Science in Computer Systems from Florida Atlantic University.
He aided his education by earning a Doctorate in Computer Science from Texas A&M. Swanson began working for NASA in 1987 as a structural designer and flight engineer on the Shuttle Training Aircraft. In 1998, he was chosen as a space tourist. Swanson's maiden mission occurred aboard Atlantis during STS-117, the 250th orbital human spaceflight.
