Sterling K. Brown was born in St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended the prestigious St. Louis Country Day School. He then attended Stanford University, where he obtained a B.A. in English before going on to earn his Master's Degree in Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Following graduating, he began a career in territory theater. He has also appeared in several TV shows, including ER, NYPD Blue, JAG Boston, Legal Alias, Without a Trace, Supernatural, and Third Watch. He appeared in the parody Starved and has also appeared in movies such as Stay with Ewan McGregor, Brown Sugar with Taye Diggs, and Trust the Man* with David Duchovny and Julianne Moore. He is most recognized for his role as Christopher Darden in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, for which he received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. Earthy colored is also known for his role as Roland Burton in the Lifetime Network drama series Army Wives. He now plays Randall Pearson in the critically acclaimed NBC drama This Is Us. He will play Thurgood Marshall in the 2017 film Marshall, a biography of his life's work.
