Stephen Wolfram published his first logical work when he was 15 years old and received his Ph.D. in hypothetical material science from Caltech when he was 20. Wolfram, who began using PCs in 1973, rapidly became a pioneer in the growing field of logical computing. Wolfram became the youngest youthful recipient of a MacArthur Prize Fellowship in 1981.
He then embarked on an ambitious new path in research with the goal of comprehending the causes of complexity in nature. Wolfram's initial important idea was to use PC studies to investigate the behavior of simple PC programs known as cellular automata. This enabled him to make a series of stunning conclusions concerning the origins of complexity.
