The Smashing Pumpkins are a Chicago-based alternative rock band that formed in 1988. In its initial lineup, the band comprised vocalist Billy Corgan (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and James Iha (lead guitar), as well as Jimmy Chamberlin (drums) and D'arcy Wretzky (bass guitar).
