Sim3n Silva has worked hard and overcome the obstacles that come with having a cultural heritage. Simon Silva was born in Mexicali, Mexico, and grew up in the Imperial Valley, at the border between Mexico and California. This was a continual reminder of his forefathers. The Silva family made a living by gathering fruits.
Silva began assisting his family on the fields when he was in elementary school. Until he was twenty-three, he spent his summers gathering seasonal fruits and vegetables. Sim3n began sketching since the Silva family had a restricted budget and no spare money for amusement.
