Shontelle Layne is well recognized by her first name. The singer who was born on October 4 1985 was really on her path to become a lawyer by attending University of the West Indies. She changed her career path after signing with SRC Records, the same label that found her fellow Barbadian star Rihanna.
After creating a few songs for local singers, she relocated to Miami in 2007 and began recording her debut album with Akon. The album was supposed to be released in September 2008 after six months of production, however it was postponed. Prior to the album's release, the lead track T-Shirt was released as a preview for the entire effort.
