Sheldon spoke the Hawaiian language and enjoys cooking with native island ingredients, yet he is fearless when competing against Mainland chefs. Star Noodle's Executive Chef in Lahaina Sheldon is a two-time James Beard semifinalist, having been nominated for Rising Star and Best New Restaurant in 2011. In addition, Maui Nokaoi Magazine recognized him Chef of the Year in 2011.
In 2012, Sheldon was nominated a People's Choice contender for Best New Chef by Food & Wine Magazine. He developed his fundamental culinary talents at Disneyworld, where he also met his wife, but his competitive attitude has assured his ongoing success, which has garnered him all of these prizes. Sheldon recently participated in Top Chef: Seattle, finishing third.
