Sean Hayes gave an excellent performance in the independent movie Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss, which garnered much attention. On the NBC satirical series Will and Grace that year, he was cast as Jack McFarland, an overtly homosexual and frequently unemployed entertainer.
The program became a long-running success, and Hayes' performance garnered him seven nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in a row, as well as one victory. For his exhibition, he was also nominated for six Golden Globe Awards. When the program was revived in 2017, he again took on Jack McFarland's role.
