Sandra "Sandy" Lerner co-founded Cisco Systems. She started Urban Decay cosmetics after quitting Cisco and supports animal rights. California State University, Chico, awarded Lerner a political science bachelor's degree in 1975. She then earned master's degrees in statistics and computer science from Stanford University in 1981 and econometrics from the Claremont Graduate School in 1977.
She co-founded Cisco Systems in 1984 while serving as the director of computer facilities at the Stanford University Graduate School of Management. Len Bosack, who was then her boyfriend, is now her ex-husband. In 1988, Lerner and Bosack appointed John Morgridge as Cisco's third CEO.
