Sandra Grimes is a former CIA officer who was part of a small team that investigated and exposed the acts of Aldrich Ames, a counterintelligence officer convicted of espionage for the Soviet Union. A buddy alerted her in October 1966 that a CIA recruiter was on school. He assured her that she would make an excellent spy.
She sought this since she was in dire need of work prior to graduation. She was offered a job as a GS-06 Intelligence Assistant after her CIA interview, but she needed security and medical clearances before she could start. When she and her coworkers arrived at the Ames building in Rosslyn, Virginia, they were assigned to the clerical department.
