Six albums have been released by Sam Roberts, a Canadian rock singer-songwriter who has been associated with Universal (Canada) since 2002. They released a self-titled EP as Northstar in 1998 while releasing a single as William in 1996. However, neither project received a significant record deal, and the group disbanded in 1999.
Roberts started doing live performances after joining Secret Weapon Management. He earned a record deal with MapleMusic Records thanks to Linda Bush at Universal. The six-track EP was made from the demo and released. It had two groundbreaking singles, Brother Down and Didn't Walk Away Eileen, which received extensive marketing in Canada.
