Major General (Ret) Robert W. Mixon, Jr. at the time of his retirement was Commanding Fort Carson Colorado, General Division West and First Army, having commanded the 7th Infantry Division previously. During his career, with over 30 years of active service experience, he commanded armor and cavalry units at every level, to include platoon, company, battalion, and brigade.
He commanded L Troop, 3rd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Germany; the 2d Squadron, 3rdArmored Cavalry Regiment in Texas; the 1st Brigade, 2d Infantry Division, Republic of Korea; and served as Assistant Division Commander (Support), of the 4th Infantry Division, Texas.
