Robert Jones Jr. is an acclaimed author, essayist, and public speaker. Formerly known online as “Son of Baldwin”, he built a large following through his blog and social media, where he offered sharp, unapologetic commentary on race, sexuality, gender, disability, and Black queer life. He holds a BFA (magna cum laude) and an MFA in fiction from Brooklyn College. His debut novel, “The Prophets” (2021), a lyrical and powerful story of love between two enslaved young men on a Mississippi plantation, became a New York Times bestseller. It was a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Fiction and won the 2022 Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Essence, The Paris Review, and anthologies including The 1619 Project.
