Robert Fisk, originally from Maidstone, Kent, is an English journalist and writer. He has been the Middle East correspondent for The Independent for over 20 years, based primarily in Beirut. Fisk is known for holding more British and International Journalism awards than any other foreign correspondent and has been voted International Journalist of the Year seven times.
He has reported on numerous wars and armed conflicts and is one of the few Western journalists to have interviewed Osama bin Laden, which he did on three occasions between 1993 and 1997.
