Robert Bazell Biography

Robert Bazell, a nonresident fellow in science and technology policy at the Baker Institute and an adjunct professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale University, spent over three decades at NBC News, where he was the chief science and health correspondent. Bazell began his journalism career in 1971 as a writer for the "News and Comment" section of Science magazine and worked as a reporter for the New York Post and WNBC-TV. Bazell has received numerous awards for his reporting, including five Emmys, the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award, and the George Foster Peabody Award. In addition, his book "HER-2: The Making of Herceptin, a Revolutionary Treatment for Breast Cancer" was made into a 2008 Lifetime movie. Bazell graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in biochemistry and a C.Phil. in immunology from Berkeley.
