Robby Ginepri is an American professional tennis player who has won three ATP championships and reached the world No. 15 singles ranking in his career. His greatest Grand Slam performance came in the 2005 US Open semifinals, where he lost to Andre Agassi. In 2005, Ginepri had a breakthrough year. In the first round, he defeated 2005 French Open runner-up, Mariano Puerta, in the second round, David Ferrer, in the third round, 1998 French Open winner Carlos Moyá, and in the quarterfinals, two-time Grand Slam singles champion Marat Safin. In the semifinals, he was defeated by world No. 1 Roger Federer. As an unseeded player in the US Open, he went 14–3 on hardcourt in the summer. Ginepri won three consecutive five-set matches, defeating Tommy Haas in the third round, Richard Gasquet in the fourth round, and Guillermo Coria in the quarterfinals, after defeating Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the first round and Andy Roddick's conqueror, Gilles Müller, in the second round, both in straight sets. In the semifinals, he was defeated in five sets by Andre Agassi. Ginepri became the first player to win four consecutive five-set matches at the US Open in the open era. He completed 2005 as the world's number 15 player in the ATP Rankings, his greatest position to date. Ginepri's performance in 2006 did not match his 2005 achievements. In 2008, he advanced to the fourth round of the French Open before falling to Fernando González, the 24th seed. Ginepri lost to Andy Roddick in the second round of The Artois Championships in London and to Gonzalez in the first round at Wimbledon. Ginepri's world ranking has risen 112 places since January to No. 59 by the summer. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, Ginepri made his Olympic debut in tennis, losing in the first round. In the first round of the 2009 French Open, he defeated Sam Querrey in four sets, and in the second round, he defeated Potito Starace. He defeated No. 16 Juan Carlos Ferrero in five sets to go to the fourth round, where he was defeated in four sets by Novak Djokovic. Along with qualifier Gabashvili, he was the last unseeded player remaining in the competition, and the last American in the men's field. Ginepri won a Futures event and reached the final of a Challenger tournament in early 2013. He did not qualify for the French Open, and he did not compete at Wimbledon.
