Rita Rudner is a stand-up comedian who gained national recognition for appearing on The Tonight Show, Late Night with Letterman, and Comic Relief in the late 1980s. Her success led to winning the American Comedy Award for Funniest Stand-Up Comedienne in 1990. Later that year, she starred in her first award-winning HBO special, Born to Be Mild. Rudner made her film debut in 1992's Peter's Friends, which she also co-wrote alongside Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh. In addition to her successful career in comedy, Rudner has also written four books, two non-fiction, and two novels, including her bestselling book "Naked Beneath My Clothes," which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Since 2001, Rudner has performed almost exclusively in Las Vegas, selling over one million tickets, and in 2011 she moved to a larger theater at The Venetian. Rudner also created and hosted the syndicated improvisational comedy show Ask Rita, which mimicked the format of a talk/advice show. In 2009, she performed for Senator Harry Reid and President Barack Obama at Caesars Palace alongside Bette Midler and Sheryl Crow.
