Rick Hodes, a Middlebury College and the University of Rochester Medical School graduate, is an American doctor who has dedicated over 20 years of his life to living and working in Ethiopia. He is currently the Medical Director of Ethiopia for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) with a history of 95 years.
Hodes has been in charge of the health of Ethiopians immigrating to Israel and is currently a senior consultant at a Catholic mission. He helps sick destitutes with heart disease, spine disease, and cancer. He has also worked with Rwanda, Zaire, Tanzania, Somalia, and Albania refugees.
