Peter Beinart is a well-known American journalist, political commentator and author who is known for his insightful analyses of U.S. foreign policy, American democracy and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He is currently a professor of journalism and political science at the City University of New York's Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Beinart was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1971 and graduated from Yale University and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University where he earned an M.Phil. in international relations. He started his career as a managing editor and later editor of The New Republic, where he became known for his liberal perspectives on foreign policy. Over time, Beinart’s views evolved, particularly regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has since advocated for a single democratic state that ensures equal rights for both Israelis and Palestinians, moving away from the traditional two-state solution.
