Perry Chen is the founder of Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects and an artist. In 2009 when the company was launched, he was the CEO but stepped away from its operations from 2014 to 2017 to focus on his artistic practice, and now serves as both the CEO and Chairman.
As an artist, he has exhibited his works in New York, Berlin, and Mexico City. Chen was a TED Fellow in 2010 and a 2016 Director's Fellow at the MIT Media Lab. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013.
