Obie Anthony is a wrongful conviction survivor, advocate, and Founder and Executive Director of Exonerated Nation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting exonerees post-release. At age 19, in 1995, he was wrongfully convicted of murder and attempted robbery in California, based on perjured testimony from a jailhouse informant.
Lacking physical evidence, Anthony was sentenced to life without parole and spent 17 years incarcerated. Through the efforts of the Northern California Innocence Project and Loyola’s Project for the Innocent, his conviction was vacated in 2011 due to prosecutorial misconduct and ineffective counsel.
