Nell Watson is a philosopher, engineer, futurist, author, and AI ethics expert specializing in machine vision, agentic AI safety, and embedding human-centered ethics into autonomous systems. She founded Poikos, a company pioneering deep machine vision technology for rapid 3D body measurement. Watson has contributed to IEEE standards work since around 2016, serving as Vice Chair of IEEE P7001 (Transparency of Autonomous Systems), Chair of related transparency and agency identification groups, and an AI Ethics Maestro. She is President of EURAIO (the European Responsible Artificial Intelligence Office), Faculty and Fellow in AI & Ethics at Singularity University, and a former Executive Consultant on philosophical matters for Apple. She has held advisory roles with organizations such as The Future Society and the Atlantic Council. She holds fellowships with the British Computer Society and Royal Statistical Society.
