Marilyn Denis, one of the craziest, most enjoyable – and, quite honestly, kindest women in broadcasting – made her long-awaited comeback to television in early 2011, as presenter of THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW, her own daily show. On Toronto's top-rated radio station 104.5 CHUM FM, the experienced announcer co-hosts Roger, Darren, and Marilyn on weekday mornings. Marilyn's quick humor, connection with the crowd, and charisma have made her a much-loved character in CHUM FM's 25-year history and a popular amongst Toronto fans. THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW is broadcast live on CTV weekdays. With a combination of professional and celebrity guests, the show provides Canadians with high-quality content. Marilyn was the first female DJ at KRPL in Moscow, Idaho, and was a true trailblazer. She subsequently relocated to Calgary, where she worked as a programmer, music director, and traffic reporter for different radio stations. Marilyn didn't find her calling until she auditioned for the role of Roger Ashby's co-host. Marilyn walked into CHUM FM in July 1986 after interviewing hundreds of broadcasters and actors. “I think we've found the right one,” Roger said after a few minutes of speaking with her. Marilyn has always managed to strike a balance between her vibrant radio career and her openness on television. She began her broadcast career as a freelance reporter for TSN, reporting on sports, weather, and entertainment for CFCN-TV (CTV Calgary). Marilyn also hosted the famous daily show CITYLINE for over 20 years and shared hosting responsibilities on BravoGemini !'s Award-winning concert series LIVE AT THE REHEARSAL HALL. Marilyn received The Rosalie Award in 2006, honoring Canadian women who have pioneered the path for others in radio broadcasting. She has won three Gemini Awards, including back-to-back Viewers Choice Awards. Marilyn is active with a number of charities. Marilyn is a champion for the battle against ovarian and breast cancer, as well as organ donation, and was one of the original members of the SickKids Constellation, a prestigious group of celebrities who support the SickKids Foundation's work. THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT MARILYN DENIS... Since 1986, I've worked two jobs at the same time, and I'm still co-hosting the CHUM-FM morning program with the two brothers I never had, Roger Ashby and Darren B. Lamb. Because I am the third of Jim and Shirley Denis' four children, there are only two certified newborn photographs of me! My Mom, my biggest admirer, and favorite watcher died in July 2009. I am the proud mother of a 22-year-old son named Adam, who works in the media industry as well. I have a minor in Advertising in addition to my degree in Radio and Television Arts. I could have gotten a degree in Anthropology and identified the missing gene that helps women comprehend males if I had stayed a little longer. Citizen Kane is my favorite film of all time, yet I can also quote every line from Bridget Jones's Diary. Colin Firth is my hidden celebrity infatuation. I think it's no longer a secret. Skinny Cow® ice cream sandwiches are my weakness (the term Skinny always fools me!) A large juicy cheeseburger, a half-pint of beer, and a Steelers football game are my ideal meals. I was born in Canada but reared in Pittsburgh, and I was a huge football fan. I believe I am the Steelers' most ardent supporter. My friends refer to me as the Queen of Ziploc® since I always have little sealed plastic bags about me. They're ideal for gift cards, extra cash, receipts, and, of course, Adam's Cheerios® from his childhood. Even though I have an unreasonable fear of getting off a ski lift, the Canadian Rockies are my favorite location on the planet. My biggest worry with the new show is that I'll wrap one day and then discover in the restroom that my microphone is still on!
