More stunning was conceived in Richmond Virginia. The grandson of slaves he was named after artist Paul Laurence Dunbar and abolitionist speaker and creator Frederick Douglass. He went to racially isolated George Mason Elementary School and Armstrong High School going on to Virginia Union University where he graduated with a degree in science in 1951.
More out of control at that point served in the Korean clash winning a Bronze Star. After his administration, he went to Howard University School of Law under the G.I. Bill graduating in 1959 and helping to establish the law office Wilder Gregory and Associates.
