K.T. McFarland is an American national security expert and a leading conservative voice. She earned a B.A. in Chinese Studies from George Washington University, an M.A. from Oxford, and pursued a Ph.D. at MIT on nuclear weapons and geopolitics. Starting as a White House intern under Nixon and Ford, she worked for Henry Kissinger at the National Security Council.
In the Reagan era, she served as a speechwriter and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs. A Fox News national security analyst since 2012, she hosted DEFCON 3. In 2016, Trump appointed her Deputy National Security Advisor; she resigned in 2017 amid the Russia probe and withdrew as a nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Singapore.
