Kristina Tanasichuk Biography

After many small business CEOs approached Kristina Tanasichuk about how they might band together to combat a more competitive Federal market, she established the Government & Services Technology Coalition in 2011. She is in charge of the Coalition's growth, content, and strategy, as well as the day-to-day operations. Tanasichuk is a member of the US Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Board and the Business to Government CEO Roundtable at the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC). On behalf of non-profit groups and coalitions, she has almost 20 years of lobbying and advocacy expertise on Capitol Hill. Tanasichuk is also the creator and president of Women in Homeland Security, a professional development group for women working in homeland security that has grown to almost 1000 members in only two years. She also established the American Security Challenge and served as its executive director for two years, an event that gives monetary and contractual rewards totaling more than $3.5 million to developing security technology companies. She was Vice President of the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council (HSDBC), the primary group representing the top big businesses in the federal homeland security sector, prior to establishing the Government Technology & Services Coalition. She was in charge of thought leadership and programs, strategic alliances, internal and external communications, marketing, and public affairs, among other things. She oversaw the Executive Brief Series and strategic relationships at the Council, as well as the Thought Leadership Committee and Board of Advisors. Tanasichuk formerly worked as the event director for the country's biggest homeland security conference and exposition, where she established and supervised three Boards of Advisors covering physical and IT security, first responders, Federal, State, and local law enforcement, and public health. She planned the conference's agenda, secured all key alliances, and handled communications and media relations. Tanasichuk began her homeland security career at the American Public Works Association, where she oversaw homeland security, shortly after September 11, 2001. She formerly worked for a boutique lobbying company on electric utility deregulation and domestic energy issues, as well as professional staff for the Chairman of the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Tanasichuk has previously worked at the American Enterprise Institute, many Washington, D.C. trade groups, and the White House under President George H.W. Bush.
