Many tragic events occurred during the Vietnam War, a little more familiar than the others. A picture of a young girl running naked down a street, her skin on fire with napalm, everlastingly completely transformed the way the world viewed the Vietnam War, as well as all wars. The picture was widely distributed and later won a Noble Prize.
Kim Phuc is the lady in the picture. Phan Thi Kim Phuc lived in a village close to Saigon. Americans as well as the South Vietnamese Airforce dropped napalm bombs on her village in 1972. Phuc, nine, decided to run away from a Buddhist shrine where she and her family were trying to hide.
