Kierra Sheard Biography

Kierra Sheard is a gospel singer, songwriter, actor, businesswoman, author, and creative director from the United States. She is the granddaughter of gospel choir conductor Mattie Moss Clark and the daughter of gospel vocalist Karen Clark Sheard (member of the Clark Sisters). Sheard came into her own after developing her abilities as a backup vocalist for her mother and the Clark Sisters. With her debut album I Owe You, released in 2004, the Detroit native made a name for herself right out of the gate. This Is Me, released in 2006, was the follow-up. Billboard's Gospel Albums list debuted at No. 1 with the Grammy Award-nominated sophomore collection. Bold Right Life followed two years later, followed by Free in 2011, her debut album for the Sheard family's Karew Records. “You Don't Know,” “Why Me,” and “God in Me” are all hit songs. In 2020, Sheard will star as her mother in the blockbuster Lifetime film The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel. Sheard's sixth album, Kierra, was released after that. It was her sixth chart-topping album, debuting at number one on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums list with 6,000 equivalent album units. Sheard's book, Big, Bold, and Beautiful: Owning the Woman God Made You to Be, was released in 2021. Sheard graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in psychology and is presently pursuing a master's degree in clinical psychology. She is also a rising entrepreneur, having launched her own clothing brand, Eleven60, on June 20, 2015. Sheard, a self-described "people person," is a firm believer in giving back. She is the creator of BRL (Bold! Right! Life! ), a national organization committed to youth empowerment with 15 local branches.
